Once you have film, sit down with your camera and camera manual, and follow the instructions to load your film. BE SURE BATTERIES ARE LOADED/WORKING. There is no difference in loading B&W, color, or slide film. Here is an example of how to load a 1980's model Canon AE-1.

Once the film is loaded, take several blank shots, releasing the shutter and advancing the film, until the frame counter is at 1 (or in some cases, the dot/dash following the zero on the counter). If you notice the rewind knob (on the left side of your camera) moving, the film is loaded correctly.
*Note that a lot of you may have newer cameras - for these, you simply insert your film on the left side, pull the film leader across the camera until it meets up with the red indicator. If you are uncertain of what to do, please contact me. :)
Now you are ready to begin shooting! Maybe this early 80's checklist can be of some assistance.

See the assignment posted on the right side of the page.
This exercise is a fun one!

in class you success that we get slide film right? Is it recommend we use the 400 Tmax yet?
yes - just one roll of slide film to practice with before the exposure lecture. please read the assignment on the right hand side of the page.
Otherwise, we will be using TMax or Tri-X. This exercise is a fun one with immediate results. :)
